Tom first began writing musicals at the University of Birmingham and continued developing new work at the Guildford School of Acting. Since then, his shows have been performed across the UK and internationally.
He is the lyricist and co-creator of The Little Big Things, a new British musical based on the memoir by Henry Fraser. The show premiered at @sohoplace in 2023 to critical acclaim and received three Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Musical.
Tom has also written Animal Farm, a contemporary musical adaptation of George Orwell’s classic. Recently performed at universities across the USA, this production has been celebrated for its innovative reimagining of a timeless story.
Other work includes The Cereal Café (formerly Spilt Milk), inspired by the 2015 Cereal Killer Café gentrification protests. Developed at The Other Palace’s ‘Work in Progress’ programme, the show was a finalist for the 2021 Stiles and Drewe Prize.
Earlier shows include Techies: The Musical, a comedy about backstage life that sold out at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe and was featured in Broadway Baby’s Top Ten New Musicals; blue, a pop-rock musical developed at GSA with support from Mercury Musical Developments; and Grandma Claus, a festive two-hander.
